How do we accomplish this?
instead of countering the negative thoughts with positive comments, we do this:
#1 use Byron Katie’s “is that true?”, to evaluate our own thoughts or what we heard someone else say
#2, decide what info to absorb, and how we file it in our brains, from positive and negative experiences or comments
#3 reframe our thoughts around our chosen belief systems and reasons we chose our path
