How do we do that?

 
 

instead of countering the negative thoughts with positive comments, we do this:

#1 use Byron Katie’s “is that true?”, to evaluate our own thoughts or what we heard someone else say

#2, decide what info to absorb, and how we file it in our brains, from positive and negative experiences or comments

#3 reframe our thoughts around our chosen belief systems and reasons we chose our path

#4 learn to think and speak highly of ourselves and other women, and evaluate how we misuse comparison

Parents… #5 remove phrases like “i look bad in this” “I hate my hair” “you are fast but you would be even faster if you just…” “they didn’t say you were too fat, they said you are too big for that dress, and that’s ok” and replace them with:

I look good in these jeans, don’t I, babe? … we are a good looking family (genetic ties not required)
i messed up my hair for my work headshots, so i'll pretend i meant to curl it this way… cuz we can’t have perfect hair all the time and i don't want it to stop me from a good photo shoot
dress didn’t fit you? that feels like crap, doesn’t it? did they do that bit where they claim they didn’t have your sizes? i hope you smiled and said “i’ve been rockin’ size 12 since i was 12” and stick out those gorgeous hips?”
